Island Hopping

Island Hopping

I have been to Greece three times and each time I learn something new. On my latest trip, I ventured to mainland Greece, the archipelago south of Athens. This is an interesting region and is quite mountainous. I stayed at an amazing wellness resort with an epic spa experience. Daily treatments at the spa are included in room rates, and guests are encouraged to stay four nights or more to take advantage of the customized program offered here. There were many single travelers who seemed to enjoy both having some solitude as well as meeting other and joining together at activities and meals. Rooms were very comfortable and the food was healthy and good. From here, you can explore some important historic sites including, where Paul wrote his famous letter to the Ephesians.

From Athens, I flew to Crete and was able to stay on both ends of this large island. Ferry travel in Greece is quite common and often the best way to get between islands. It is not for the faint of heart however, and guests need to be prepared to manage getting luggage on and off in the crush of people boarding along with bikes and vehicles. It can be a bit overwhelming! To avoid this, consider chartering a private boat or helicopter.
