Re-discovering Andalucia

Re-discovering Andalucia

I first visited Spain with my parents in 1982.  I remember well the incredible Alhambra Palace as well as the late-night dinners but I’ve known for awhile that I needed to return so I jumped at the chance to go on a travel advisor “familiarization” trip.  Fortunately, we had a wonderfully well-organized and entertaining hostess so the trip was a real pleasure as well as highly educational.  Though there wasn’t much down time as we hopped from one city to the next, we did get to see the highlights as well as some hidden gems. I had not seen the spectacular mosque turned cathedral in Cordoba and it is a wow experience.  Also, I really loved the authentic horse show at the National Andalucian Stud Farm in Jerez as well as staying at a traditional hacienda turned boutique hotel.  The food here was absolutely delicious!  Spain is a great destination, and less crowded and expensive than other parts of Europe.  If it’s not on your list, time to add it!
